EIFS
1. Substrate - per
code requirements and manufacturer's recommendations.
2. Insulation Board - 3/4" to 3" thick, 1.0 p.c.f. expanded polystyrene
board conforming to CAN/ULC-S701 Type 1 (flame spread rating 25
or less) and ASTM-C578, fastened as follows:
a. The Ribbon and Dab Method - Trowel, a
ribbon of adhesive cement 2" (55 mm) wide and 3/8 " (10 mm) thick
around the perimeter of the 2' x 4' (610 mm x 1220 mm) board. Place
dabs of adhesive 4" (100 mm) diameter, 3/8" (10 mm) thick at 8"
(200 mm) center on the remainder of the board surface.
b. The Notched
Trowel Method - Apply the adhesive cement mix to the surface of
the insulation board with a notched trowel. The beads shall be 3/8"
(10 mm) thick.
3. Reinforcing Mesh
- Manufacturer's
recommended glass fiber reinforcing mesh, self-extinguishing, 0.49
- 0.65 oz/ft2, edges
overlapped 2-1/2" (62 mm) minimum, totally embedded in Preswitt
Adhesive Coat**.
4. Base/Adhesive Coat* - Preswitt Adhesive Coat** mix number PW21, minimum 1/12" (2 mm)
final thickness.
Applied as a coat to insulation boards prior to reinforcing mesh
installation with further applications as required to totally embed
the mesh and to achieve the minimum final thickness; applied with
a steel trowel.
5. Finish Coat* - Preswitt Finish Coat** minimum thickness as per manufacturer's
recommendation for specific finish, applied with a steel trowel.
*Components bearing the
Warnock Hersey Certification mark for use within the appropriate design.
