DESCRIPTION
Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement is a fibre-reinforced stucco product manufactured
for Preswitt by Basalite. The pre-blended product combines Type
10 Portland Cement, Type 'S' hydrated lime, poly-fibre and stucco
enhancing admixtures.
USES
Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement is ideal for basecoat stucco applications
to expand metal lath, welded wire lath or woven wire lath. This
system may be applied to sheathed wood or metal framing and concrete
and masonry structures.
PROCEDURES
Preparation: For best results, Beta-Wall
Basecoat Cement should be mixed with a clean mortar mixer. Use only
potable water.
- pour 15 litres of water into mixer
- add 12 shovels of sand (132 lbs
/ 60 kgs)
- add one sack of Beta-Wall Basecoat
Cement - mix briefly
- add the balance of the sand, 15
shovels (168 lbs / 76 kgs) and enough water to bring the stucco
to the desired consistency
- mix three to four minutes
TECHNICAL DATA
- A bag of Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement
will produce enough stucco to cover approximately 54 to 72 sq.
ft. when applied at ¾ inch thickness (5.0 to 6.7 sq. m
at 19 mm thickness).
- 5 kg (11 lbs) of sand per one shovel
(size 2).
- Sand must conform to ASTM C 897.
- Mix proportions for stucco are outlined
in ASTM C926 and the Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco) Manual.
- Moist cure stucco for seven days
prior to applying finish coat.
- Follow the recommendations in ASTM
C897 and the Portland Cement Plaster (Stucco) Manual in order
to protect the stucco in hot, cold and windy weather.
- WARNING do not add soap or any other
admixture to Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement.
LIMITATIONS
Liability for damages or defective
goods shall be limited to the refund of the purchase price or replacement.
PACKAGING
Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement is packaged
in 36.3 kgs (80 lbs) triple lined paper bags.
All Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement dry mix
can be custom packaged to suit specific project requirements.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Beta-Wall Basecoat Cement contains
Portland Cement and other carefully selected additives. Normal safety
wear such as rubber gloves, dust mask and safety glasses used to
handle conventional cement-based products should be worn. Material
Safety Data Sheets are available upon request.
